The great thing about clear aligners is that there are no food/drink restrictions! We do recommend you remove your aligners prior to eating. Usually our patients can drink cool clear liquids with our aligners in. Remember to brush after if the liquid is not water!

The RPE typically stays in for 6 months to allow for stabilization and prevent relapse.

The Herbst appliance is an orthodontic appliance that corrects an overbite by gradually moving the lower jaw forward and applying gentle backward pressure to the upper jaw. It is ideal during growth spurts and although it does not “create new bone” it does direct new growth that is taking place. Cool fact: we now have a “Clear Herbst” integration with clear aligners!

The food restrictions are similar to the restrictions for braces. You want to avoid hard and chewy/sticky foods to prevent breaking or loosening the appliance.

Some pateints can experience mild sensitivity but this is not the case for all patients.

We advise that you avoid any food or drinks that would stain a white t-shirt (i.e. marinara sauce, red wine, or curry).

The radiation that a patient is exposed to during our x-ray is as equivalent as the radiation experienced by walking outside into the sun.

It is a tiny rubber band that goes in between your teeth to make space.

It is very common for separators to fall out and when they do, you can call our office to schedule an appointment closer to your banding appointmetn to ensure that there is enough space available for your appliance.

The “expander,” or RPE (Rapid Palatal Expander) is an orthodontic appliance that broadens the upper arch to create space for impacted teeth or to correct a crossbite (when the upper arch is not sitting on top of the lower arch correctly).

The patient may experience feelings of pressure or soreness during the first couple of turns, after which the soreness or pressure subside.

Yes! We have a variety of colors our patients can choose from to decorate their braces.

We recommend retention for life. Our bodies are dynamic and constantly changing. Just like dying our air or exercising – maintenance is required to maintain results!

We take patient x-rays every 6 months.

No, the clear brackets do not stan but your clear color ties can stain over time.

We hope to make this an exciting and painless experience! Sometimes minor pressure or soreness can occur in the beginning as well as after an increase in wire strength, but it should begin to subside within 3-5 days.

No. Some school actiivites may require a protective mouth guard but braces should not interfere with school activities or events.

Both materials produce the same outcome but it is a patient’s personal preferance.

Dr. Bhavnani has been practicing since 2012. She graduated from St. Louis University with her Masters of Science in Dentistry (M.S.) and further committed to the field of Orthodontics by becoming Board Certified in 2020.

Most Orthodontists have a simpler 2D X-ray unit. It is important for Dr. Bhavnani to obtain as much information as possible to ensure a proper treatment plan is created. Therefore, she chose to invest in a higher quality 3D X-ray unit. If provides more information while using less radiation.

Depending on the recommended treatment, appointments can range anywhere from 4-6 weeks.

There are multiple ways to earn points! Some points are awarded automatically (checking in on time for your appointment, scheduling your next visit) and others require patient participation (referring your friends and family to the practice, wearing your B Ortho tee shirt, bringing in your cleaning certificate).

No, unfortunately we do not offer any general dental services at this office. We only specialize in orthodontic treatment, but we can always refer you to great local general dental offices in the area for all ages.

For after hour emergencies, Dr. Bhavnani has her number listed in our voicemail. You may text that number as needed and she will respond with the best course of action.

The 7 & Up VIP Club is a program for our younger patients, ages 7 and up. These patients are not quite ready for treatment yet but we ensure that we are checking in every six months for new treatment recommendations. This allows them to become familiar with the office and start receiving B-Bucks and rewards.

We typically start seeing patients as soon as 7-years-old but the starting age depends on the amount of baby teeth lost and the treatment necessary.

The average time for braces depends on the complexity of the treatment plan. It can range anywhere from 6 months to 3 years.

No. In some cases, inceptive phase (Phase I) treatment is needed to avoid a more complex treatment later (our goal is to avoid extractions, oral surgery, impacted teeth or very long extended treatments). If a Phase I treatment is needed, it is likely that a second phase (Phase II) treatment will be needed later as well.

We give our patients a 6 month grace period from their expected deband date. If a patient goes past this 6 month grace period due to poor patient cooperation, additional fees can apply.
